About
FameLab is one of the biggest science communication competitions in the world. Participants have just three minutes to win over the judges with a scientific talk that excels for its content, clarity and charisma.
The winners of the semi-final will proceed to the Swiss national final and will have the privilege to get trained by a renowned science communicator during a whole weekend of Masterclass. The grand price: Becoming the new face of science in Switzerland and participating at the FameLab International final.
For Whom
The competition is open to everyone studying or working in STEM subjects, i.e., life sciences, technology, engineering, geosciences, mathematics, physics, chemistry and social sciences. Entrants must be 18 to 35 years old and based in Switzerland.
- Lecturers and researchers, including specialist science teachers with a science degree
- University students in STEM fields
- People who apply STEM subjects in industry, business, government bodies or armed forces
FameLab 2024
The Basel FameLab Semifinal is happening on April 30th at Verso. The registration deadline is April 15th. You can sign up for the event here: https://www.famelab.ch/apply
As an opportunity to prepare for the FameLab semifinal we are organising a workshop on April 8th (4:30pm – 6pm). We will send a reminder and some details to everyone who signs up.
The winners from the Basel semifinal advance to the Swiss final on September 26th in Bern and are invited to a two-day master class in science communication on June 15th & 16th.
